Moderation of Contrib Modules

Is this meant to be functioning right now? I'm curious if that is something automated or manual and what it is looking for.

For instance http://www.ubercart.org/contrib/2010 shows as "Failed Installation".

I'm sensing (and experiencing) more and more confusion with the contrib modules for UC. I think it's great that you guys allow for easy uploads rather than having to go through CVS, but I think that low barrier to entry comes with a lot more risk in terms of maintaining quality and updates. I'm never quite sure if something in the contrib section will actually *work*, which isn't something I would usually worry about with Drupal modules.

A more rigorously implemented moderation/review/updating system would probably go a long way...

Exactly. Quality is a sum of details.

AdministratorHead Code Monkey - I eat bugs.

cha0s was working on some testing and moderation, but when we first created the moderation field we obviously didn't have values for a lot of contrib nodes. As a result, I'm not sure if yours being marked like that was intentional or not. :-/

I'm going to remove that for now and have cha0s weigh in here. I definitely want to see at least some loose moderation going, and we need to prepare for how to deal w/ these sorts of contribs that work for either D5 or D6 or both.

I didn't intend to cause any confusion, I actually didn't think those were visible yet.

I had originally planned to set up as much automation as possible with contrib modules, running coder etc. on them and updating that status accordingly. However, it's more complex than I originally thought, because people can have multiple revisions on one page, can have it on a d.o project page which they can link, or in the case of one contrib, a link to a project page on d.o that only contains links to other d.o projects. Very best would be just an educated guess really.. Smiling

So, the short answer is that I've been busy working on other things and not updating every contrib to its proper setting on the new moderation options. Since automation is probably a pipe dream for checklisting issues of compliance, it will take a little while to get up to date doing it by hand.

I thought it'd be good to make an announcement once it was up to date, but maybe we should have thrown it out there right off the bat to prevent confusion. Sorry about that.

P.S. Your module was only marked 'failed to install' because it's the next step after passing coder, and I had run a large chunk of contribs through coder, but I hadn't installed all of them, so it was basically waiting on the next step.
